ABOUT DAISY
I moved to Kent in 2018 to study a foundation in art and design, and subsequently a BA in Illustration and Animation at UCA Canterbury. I found freedom in creating and experimenting with many mediums, including mono and lino printing, screen printing, risograph, watercolours, ink and wash illustrating, photography and film and many more. I became fascinated by storytelling through art.
Covid and Lockdown hit during my first year of Illustration and Animation, and I found myself feeling a little lost while navigating the production of high quality pieces from my small, student flat. However, it taught me to become more resourceful, creating art from what was to hand.
In 2022, I joined Walrus and Oyster, a collaborative art shop in Canterbury. I developed a small business, Ditsy Daisy, and sold handmade decorative pieces, mainly upcycling unwanted textiles into wall hangings, plush cats, and bags.
In 2023, I was commissioned to illustrate a book of poems titled “Sirens and Birdsong”. I used ink and wash illustrations to complement the written work.
I submitted three digital drawings to be exhibited in the Cartoon museum in London, as part of the “Cats in Cartoons” exhibition between April and September 2025.
I love to document my surroundings through photography, and enjoy developing these photographs through cyanotype, and gel printing. I also use my photography as a source of reference for my paintings.
In 2025 I rediscovered my love of printmaking and acrylic painting. I draw inspriation from my surroundings in Kent, focusing on the wildlife, citylife, and interactions I experience. I also find my two cats to be characterful subjects in my work.
I love to take part in collaborative and community projects. I have designed and installed Christmas window illustrations for a selection of businesses in Canterbury.
